Choosing a driving instructor isn’t just about finding someone who knows the rules of the road — it’s about finding someone who understands how to help you feel safe, confident, and fully prepared for real-world driving. That’s exactly what I aim to do at Sevenoaks Driving Lessons.
As someone who was born and raised in Sevenoaks, I know these roads inside out. From tricky junctions to hidden hazards, I have a deep understanding of the local traffic conditions and test routes — and beyond. I even passed my driving test at Sevenoaks Test Centre in 1998!
A Passion for Coaching & Teaching 👨🏫
I’ve always had a passion for coaching and helping people develop their skills. I started by volunteering with youth organisations I attended as a child, later going on to coach sports teams at an international level. This led me to gain additional driving qualifications, including minibus training, all of which shaped my structured, supportive approach to teaching.
Teaching My Own Children to Drive 🚦
On a more personal note, I’m a father of three boys — two of whom I personally taught to drive. Like any parent, I wanted them to be as safe and confident as possible on the road, so I made sure their training was thorough, structured, and focused beyond just passing the test. Seeing how well they progressed, and the difference it made to their independence, was part of what inspired me to become a driving instructor.
My Motorsport Experience – & Why It Matters 🏁
I ran successful businesses in Sevenoaks, which gave me the financial freedom to pursue a personal dream — racing cars. I competed at circuits across the UK, including Brands Hatch, and won two UK Championships before racing in Europe on some of the most famous F1 circuits.
But don’t worry — I won’t be trying to turn you into a racing driver! If anything, my experience at high speeds taught me how crucial vision, car control, and hazard awareness are in everyday driving. It also reinforced an important lesson: speed can kill. My priority is to help you drive safely, not quickly.

Having achieved everything I wanted in motorsport, I found myself looking for a new challenge. With a passion for driving and a love of coaching, becoming a driving instructor felt like the perfect next step. And I’ve never looked back — unless, of course, I’m checking my mirrors!
