What's different about driving electric
Driving electric is simple, but a few things feel different. We cover each one as it comes up, so none of them catch you out after you pass.
It pulls away quickly
Electric cars respond the moment you press the accelerator, so you'll learn a smooth, gentle right foot, especially at junctions and roundabouts.
It slows when you ease off
Lifting off the accelerator slows the car more than you might expect. You'll learn to plan ahead and ease off early, for a smoother drive with less braking.
It needs charging
You'll learn how charging works and how to plan a longer journey, so running out of charge is never a worry.

Your licence, test and prices
Electric cars have no gears, so they count as automatic: you'll take your test in Rene and pass with an automatic licence. Lessons are priced the same as my automatic lessons, from about £63 an hour, pay as you go. See all prices on my prices page.

Questions about learning in an electric car
Is it harder to learn in an electric car?
No. Many people find it easier, because it's quiet, smooth and has no gears. The few things that feel different are part of your lessons from the start.
Can I practise at home in a petrol or diesel automatic?
Yes. The core skills are the same, and I'll point out anything that feels different between the two.
Will I need to charge the car during lessons?
No. Rene is always charged and ready before your lesson.
