Lesson Rates £45 per hour

I understand that driving lessons can feel costly, and it’s natural to worry about your budget. That’s why my lessons focus on efficient progress and genuine, hands-on driving rather than endless roadside chat—so you’ll need fewer sessions and ultimately saving you money.

(If you wish to use my car for your driving test in Sevenoaks, I charge three times the hourly rate as a standard fee — which reflects the time taken to get to the driving test centre, the test itself, and returning home.)

Lesson Duration

All driving lessons are booked in two-hour blocks (unless I’m dropping you at school for 08:30 when I allow a 1 hour lesson). This format offers the best value, allowing us to cover more ground, practise a wider range of skills, and avoid feeling rushed.

Working Hours

• Monday to Saturday: 07:30 – 21:30 (perfect if you need an early morning lesson before school, or a pickup from school from 16:00 onwards).
• Sunday: 08:00 – 18:00 (even I need a lay in bed!)

I understand how important regular lessons are for your progress. That’s why I prioritise consistent scheduling to keep your learning on track. Cancellations are incredibly rare because I know how disruptive they can be.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel a lesson, as long as you provide more than 48 hours’ notice, the pre-payment will go towards your next lesson. However, if you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, you will lose the payment for that lesson.

I don’t offer discounts, introductory rates, or bulk booking packages. I already provide quality driving instruction — reflected in my first time pass rate — so I keep the pricing straightforward. Another popular route involves winding through Edenbridge’s rural lanes, including the single-track stretch along Pilgrims Way, where you’ll navigate blind corners and tight bends. You’ll learn how to use passing places effectively — and hopefully avoid scratching the car!

Mock Tests and Practical Driving Test Routes

I also provide plenty of opportunities to learn the local driving test routes in and around Sevenoaks. From complex junctions to tricky parking scenarios, we’ll cover almost every situation you might encounter on your practical driving test. In particular, you’ll learn how to:

• Manage local 20 mph zones with confidence.

After passing their test, many of my pupils join me for a lap of the M25. During this time, we practise motorway driving, including entering and exiting junctions, using service stations, and handling high-traffic situations. It’s a fantastic way to build motorway confidence and prepare for real-world conditions — helping you become a better driver overall. (Because the traffic can be ‘challenging’ I charge a fixed three-hours, and if we’re ahead of schedule we may also visit Bluewater which is where most people want to go when they pass their driving test!)

According to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), learners typically require around 45 hours of professional instruction, complemented by approximately 22 hours of private practice, to prepare for the driving test.

However, it’s important to recognise that individual experiences vary widely. I offer lessons in Sevenoaks and nearby towns and villages, including Westerham, Shoreham, and Kemsing. For school pick-ups or drop-offs, I can travel as far as Tonbridge. Staying within these areas ensures you’re well-prepared for driving on local roads. (Unfortunately, I don’t cover Edenbridge, Borough Green, or Tunbridge Wells.)

What car do you instruct in?
I drive a manual VW Polo, which my students love because it’s small and easy to manoeuvre, yet comfortable and safe.

I specifically chose it for its smooth controls, excellent visibility, and modern safety features (such as dual-control, ABS and air bags), which help build confidence while keeping lessons stress-free. Plus, it’s a car similar to what many students drive after passing, so jumping into your own car won’t feel so daunting.

Do you provide gift vouchers?
Yes, each voucher is valid for a single lesson and is presented in an envelope.

Do you prepare pupils for the theory test?
Yes. Alongside practical driving lessons, I’m happy to offer guidance and resources to help you pass your driving theory and find your nearest theory test centre or location.

Will you teach me to race?
I often get asked this because of my successful motor racing career. However, I don’t teach racing on public roads — that would be both illegal and unsafe. (If you want to pursue motor racing, I recommend visiting a dedicated circuit like Brands Hatch.) That said, some of my racing experience does inform my expert driving lessons, particularly around correct vision, braking, pedal application, and balancing the car.

Can I bring any friends or family with me?
No. My insurance doesn’t allow additional passengers during lessons, and it’s best to avoid distractions.

Can I use my own car?

Unfortunately not. While it’s possible to arrange insurance for provisional drivers, it can be tricky to find coverage that also allows for a paid instructor to be with you. The easiest route is to drive in my car during your lessons.

Do you offer instructor training?
At this time, I do not provide instructor training, but I’m happy to advise if you’re interested in becoming an instructor.
